apt.bytegold.dev
Debian packages from bytegold for Ubuntu, served as a signed apt repository. Add it once, and every package below installs with apt install and stays current with apt upgrade.
tl;dr
wget -qO /tmp/bytegold-archive-keyring.deb https://apt.bytegold.dev/bytegold-archive-keyring.deb sudo apt install /tmp/bytegold-archive-keyring.deb sudo apt update
The same steps with the fingerprint check are below.
Add the repository
- Download the keyring package. It holds the signing key and the apt source.
wget -qO /tmp/bytegold-archive-keyring.deb https://apt.bytegold.dev/bytegold-archive-keyring.deb
- Install it.
sudo apt install /tmp/bytegold-archive-keyring.deb
What it installs
The key at
/usr/share/keyrings/bytegold-archive-keyring.gpg, and this source at/etc/apt/sources.list.d/bytegold.sources:Types: deb URIs: https://apt.bytegold.dev/ Suites: ./ Signed-By: /usr/share/keyrings/bytegold-archive-keyring.gpg
- Check that the key is ours: this must print the fingerprint BD35 399E 8ADF 78D9 9441 1AA6 D663 8C9E 10FF E79A.
gpg --show-keys /usr/share/keyrings/bytegold-archive-keyring.gpg
- Refresh the package lists.
sudo apt update
From then on the keyring package updates itself like any other, so a new key or address arrives with apt upgrade.
Packages
| Package | Version | Description | Download |
|---|---|---|---|
| bytegold-archive-keyring | 1.0.0 all versions | signing key and apt source for the bytegold archive | .deb 1.3 KB |
| plymouth-theme-bytegold | 1.0.1 all versions | bytegold boot splash | .deb 5.1 MB |
Install any of them by name, for example:
sudo apt install plymouth-theme-bytegold
Remove the repository
Removing the keyring package removes the source with it. Installed packages stay installed; they just stop receiving updates.
sudo apt remove bytegold-archive-keyring sudo apt update
